ALL COUNTY, ALL CONFERENCE,ALL REGION....WHAT'S NEXT FOR THE EAGLE JUNIOR FLYER?
Thought I would share a little INK that BJ got this morning. Those of you at the game yesterday with BigDzizdz might have already gotten the update. Bj did qualify to run in the upcoming regionals for his school in Schaumburg. His 7th place finish Saturday was his best ever finish in competing with these kids (throwing the times out and just using place).
As you will read in the article, his team unfortunately didnt qualify (for the boys). It was a day of highs and lows for BJ. He is happy for himself, but wanted all the guys to go this year. They have committed to practicing with him this week though, which i thought was nice....I would have had to recruit some runners to train with him...I could take the first block and hand the baton off to someone else....Luckily I dont need any volunteers.
BJ and I do have a little side bet....I told him that if he continues to train over the winter and continues to work towards his goal....I will attempt a 5k race in the spring....SO the competition is on....He has to run his course at the school in under 16:30 consistently and i just have to run. (You will soon be hearing of my back, hip and knee replacements)
Hope all is well where you are!!!!!!

Last week it was mission impossible. This time, it’s mission accomplished.
“The whole object was to make it to next week, and we’re there,” said Warren coach Bill Dawson after the Blue Devils ran to first place in the Antioch regional at Fox River Park on Saturday.
With 59 points, Warren easily out-distanced Grayslake Central (100) for the top spot. Both qualified for the Schaumburg sectional, as did the hosting Sequoits (107), Richmond-Burton (123) and Johnsburg (133). Lakes (136) fell just short of advancing.
Nick Lane of Grayslake North used a strong closing surge to top Warren’s Steven Kleine for individual honors. Lane finished in 16:21, a full minute better than his clocking on the same course three weeks ago, while Kleine posted a 16:29.
Lane and Lakes’ B.J. Fuller (seventh, 17:14) move on to sectionals as individual qualifiers.
Karsen Green was second for the Blue Devils and fourth overall in 16:51. Alex Kueny (11th, 17:33), Steve Walz (14th, 17:43) and Joe Florio (28th, 18:19) were next for Warren, which was missing senior Chris Burns due to knee tendinitis.
“He ran hurt last week,” Dawson said. “With as little running as he’s done this week, he’s doing a lot better. He’ll be able to run at sectionals.
“We ran OK,” Dawson added. “To have any chance next week, we’re going to have to run the race of our lives. But we’re there. We have that opportunity so we’re just going to give it the best we have.”
Junior Jared Zygmunt (eighth, 17:16) was lead man for Grayslake Central, with Mark Giertych (18th, 17:56), Kevin Dickson (21st, 18:00), Michael Zantello (26th, 18:10) and Kyle Baroni (27th, 18:12) rounding out the top five.
Mike Dussault (ninth, 17:21) paced Antioch. Ryan Mehaffey (16th, 17:46) ran No. 2, followed by Tom Miller (20th, 17:57), Bryant Giorgi (30th, 18:20) and Joe Jensen (32nd, 18:24).
Grayslake North finished seventh with 155 points and Grant (181) was eighth.
Girls: Warren’s Heather Olson won the individual battle but, for the second straight week, Grant won the team war.
Olson cruised to first place in the Antioch regional at Fox River Park in Wilmot, Wis. The Bulldogs, however, defeated the Blue Devils for team honors 43-57.
Both schools advance to next weekend’s Schaumburg sectional along with third-place Antioch (96), Zion-Benton (104) and Lakes (123).
Grant edged Warren by one place in the North Suburban Conference meet the previous week. Saturday’s win, though, might need an asterisk.
Sarahbeth Jones, the Blue Devils’ No. 2 runner, pulled up with a quadriceps strain about a mile and three-quarters into the race and had to be helped from the course.
“Just guessing where Sarahbeth would have finished, it would have been very tight,” said Blue Devils coach Cheryl Anderson. “Our three, four and five were right where they needed to be but having our second runner go down, we really took a beating.”
Once again, the Bulldogs had their top five where they needed to be.
Alexis Capps (sixth, 20:12) and Kendra Kennedy (seventh, 20:13) led the way, Jessie Stimpson (eighth, 20:34) and Heather Ruetsche (ninth, 20:38) provided strong 3-4 support and Leya Munwam (13th, 21:11) ran No. 5.
Olson turned back all challengers with her time of 19:15, a strong effort on the hilly, 3-mile course.
Rachael Dean of Lakes (19:58) was her nearest competition. The host Sequoits’ Erin Poss (20:00) was third, Rachel Armstrong (20:07) of Zion-Benton took fourth and another Lakes Eagle, Ariel Butzine (20:10), placed fifth.
“Jaclyn Diaferio (10th, 20:48) had a really good race and Annie Brandes (12th, 20:55) had a really good race, for a freshman especially in the state series,” said Anderson of her Nos. 2 and 3.
Alexa Williams (16th, 21:22) was fourth for Warren and Aubrey Berry (18th, 21:29) fifth.
“We were packed in pretty well,” Anderson said, adding that Jones’ availability for the sectional is questionable.
Contributing to the top five for Antioch were Jen Naegele (11th, 20:49), Erin Schoenfelder (23rd, 22:14), Megan O’Connor (24th, 22:20) and Alexa Hojnacki (28th, 22:55).
Emma Howard (14th, 21:18) was third for Lakes, followed by Cassandra Freundlich (45th, 25:13) and Stephanie Frenzel (49th, 25:49).
Megan LeBaron of Grayslake Central (15th, 21:20) and Amanda Leon of Grayslake North (19th, 21:34) qualified for the sectional as individuals.
