How about another dog?

Danielle has been asking repeatedly for a new dog. "MY own dog" she calls it.

Her rationale goes like this:

Timber is Mommy's dog. Mommy picked Timber out at the store.

Graycie is "no one's dog" because Graycie picked Danielle, not the other way around.

So none of the dog's at our house are "MY dog".

HMMMMM....we have said "No." We have said "Not right now." We have said "NO!!!".

So, tonight when it was brought up again, which it usually is, I was going along with our previous standard answers. "NO!!".

I tried to reason with my child..."You don't feed the dogs we have, you dont walk the dogs we have, you dont sweep up the dog hair that we have, you dont brush the dogs' teeth that we have, you dont PICK UP THE POO from the dogs we have, so I'm sorry, but NO."

She shrugs and walks off.

Momentarily, like a bat out of heck, she comes running back upstairs. "Hey Mom, guess what?" (I already dont like the sound of this.) "DAD said that if I start picking up the poop from Timber and Graycie, that I can have a new dog."

Mommy is still sitting her wondering what happened to "NO."

I will keep you all posted on Miss Poo Patrol.

Metamorphosis

Danielle and I were driving to tumbling class last night and as usual, she was telling me about her day at school. Now, there are times when I admittedly half listen because I am thinking about work, or the gagillion other things we have going on...but for some reason, not last night.

She was telling me a story about what they are learning about in science class...amphibians. After some talking about frogs and tadpoles and larva, she busts out with two sentences...
1.) "Mommy, did you know that the word amphibian comes from two ancient words and means two lives when you put them together?"

2.) "The reason that the word to lives is significant is because amphibians experience metamorphosis when they change from their baby life to their grown up life."

First of all....Wow. When did she get to be so grown? And secondly...when did she start saying things like significant, and experience, and metamorphosis?

Seems like just yesterday I was trying for things like MaMa or DaDa.

Metamorphosis.
