Happy Birthday Week

What a week at the Fuller house. I dont really even know where to begin. This week brought BJ's first day of school (AS A JUNIOR...where did the time go?), Danielle's 5th birthday (where did the time go?), Kindergarten testing for Danielle, Danielle's 5 year old checkup (with a BIG shot for every year), a day at work with Mommy before the Kane County Cougars game, and TWO (not one but two) birthday parties on Saturday. WHEW. Mommy and Daddy slept in a little this morning.

Yes, BJ is a junior. The year got off to a great start. He forgot his lunch on Monday. Big DziaDzia to the rescue (again!!). Its nice to have parents that live so close to handle all those emergencies....he had money and could have bought food in the cafeteria, but this is HIS money. Money he WORKS hard for. (If it was our money, he would have bought his lunch at school apparantly) His first day of school brought homework ALREADY....all I could do was smile. So, Brian and I have lost the office at the house to another school year. This is where BJ will camp out after ________________ (insert sport here) practice to do his homework while listening to iTunes and instant messaging any and all "honies" that are online..

Tuesday was a mixed bag for Mommy. Danielle turned 5. I took most of the day off from work....we had to go to her new Kindergarten for pre-school testing to see what classroom Danielle will be assigned to. We had been practicing all summer long with our letters and numbers and with getting interested in reading thanks to Busia and her almost weekly trips to the library with Danielle. Over the summer Danielle learned her address and phone number. She also learned not to give this information to anyone she didnt know. (So when the tester asked her at school she quickly said "you're a stranger, my Mommy said never to tell a stranger this unless you're a policeman. Are you a policeman and a teacher?" She got extra credit for that answer.) All in all, the teachers said that she did really well...they said they had to stop her counting when she got to one thousand!!! Danielle seems raring to go to Kindergarten as well. We start with a parent and child day to get acquainted on September 5th. Mommy and Daddy will be taking that day off work to go and help Danielle get settled and meet her teacher. (Danielle is hoping for Mrs Ally....we will see.) Thanks to Auntie Shirley for Danielle's first email!!!!

We had a nice birthday lunch Tuesday with Busia and DziaDzia at Steak and Shake...one of Danielle and her grandparents favorite places to go for lunch or dinner when Danielle's mommy and daddy arent around.

Thursday was AWFUL...it was Doctor day. We had been preparing her all week long for this one. Mommy knew that there would be needles. And were there ever needles. She sailed through the exam part. A happy, healthy, usually well adjusted 3' 10" tall and a solid (the doctor assures me due to muscle mass) 52 pounds. Then it came. He said the S word. I shot him a look that could have sent him up in a puff of smoke. She lost it. "But I dont want shots Mommy. Im not sick." (Hard to argue with that one.) So once we told her that she needed these to go to Kindergarten (sneaky I know) she seemed to relax a LITTLE. In came the nurses (PLURAL). The big mean one said "Ok Mom, lay across her chest and pin her arms down while we stick her." AND THEY WONDER WHY THE KIDS FREAK OUT OVER THIS PROCESS. My daughter proceeded to scream bloody murder " You guys, youre hurting me....why are you hurting me, owie owie owie...ouchie, ooohhh that one hurt, i dont want this anymore, Mommy youre letting them hurt me (that one made me cry too), stop please, please dont anymore, i dont like this. Ouchie ouchie ouchie." I will never EVER forget this moment in time. It truly was just about 60 seconds with the two nurses doing shots but it seemed to last all afternoon. By the time is was over Danielle had her 5 bandaids and the nice nurse was giving Mommy and Danielle suckers and Kleenex. The big mean one said "See sweetie that wasnt so bad" and Danielle pulled out of her bag of tricks the same look her Mommy gave the doctor earlier when he mentioned the S word to begin with (that's MY girl).

Friday was go to work day with Mommy. We had one of our Leadership Management meetings. (She was a welcome distraction) She got to sit around the board room table with all of us and listen to Mommy's boss talk, and talk , and talk. At one point she asked him "Hey Mr. Bob, does anyone else get a turn to say anything?" (Even he had to laugh at that one.) After work we met up with Daddy at the Kane County Cougars game for an outing with Mommy's company. She really enjoyed the KidsZone there with the Big Air Slide and the Jumpy.

Saturday brought BIG FUN. We had our first go round with a children's party. Danielle invited her friends from Daycare, Becca, and Uncle Steve's girls (Amiyah, Arianna and Azzarria) for a Craft Party at the Park District (Mommy didnt have to do anything but bring cupcakes) It was a great time. Special thanks to big brother for getting some of his favorite friends of Danielle's to show up....especially Kevin (her boyfriend). Auntie Katie, Uncle Chris and of course Busia and DziaDzia rounded out the guests. To see the look on her face when he walked in was absolutely priceless. The kids had a great time playing together, making party crowns, scratch and sniff artwork and doing the chicken limbo. Then it was off to the house to have our family party. In addition to the people at the kids party from the family Auntie Angie came over with Brandon and Jason as well as our old neighbors Auntie Melanie and Uncle Ivan. Danielle had a great time!!! And a great 5th birthday. She will definitely be the best dressed at Kindergarten thanks to all the great clothes she received. She got every girls dream Easy Bake oven (thanks Auntie Katie we have already made our first creation). She has her Cheetah Girls music and more Disney favorites. She has jewlery making kits and more beads. She has Polly Pockets and Hello Kitty and Barbie......thanks to all. It was a great day.

Pictures will be up soon...the camera batteries need to recharge before we download. Brian says he will help me figure it out.
