Nothing like a little pink eye....
Last night, at about 11:30, Danielle woke up screaming....SCREAMING. As the occasional bad dream isnt out of the question for Danielle, I didnt panic. Until I heard this...."Daddy help me I cant see!!!" I bolted out of the bed to find Danielle standing in the living room eyes closed trying to feel her way around. (Still screaming by the way) I look at Brian, and I try not to freak out. I ask her calmly, "what do you mean?" And she matter of factly replies..."I mean I cant see. What dont you understand?" (Freaking out begins) Over and over again...I cantseeIcantseeIcantsee. Five minutes into this Daddy speaks..."well a little bit ago she said her eyes were hurting her but she fell asleep." Have I mentioned...still screaming? Slowly but surely, her eyes swell up. I try to look inside, all the while, she is screaming, "Dont touch me, youre hurting me. Leave me alone. Youre being mean" (OUCH....I was only trying to help) So....do we go to the ER or dont we? We dont....YET. We try a warm washcloth....AHHHHHH. This helps us settle down a little. I ask..."Danielle, can you see baby?" Again, matter of factly...."Uh no Mommy, my eyes are closed" Ask a stupid question....get a smart alec answer. She fell asleep...albeit a very fitful sleep.
This morning she woke up pretty tired yet. Eyes swollen shut...a little crustiness...a lot of soreness. (She looked like someone punched her actually) More warm washcloth...but the poor thing was still having trouble opening up her eyes. Mommy calls the doctor...doctor says go to Acute Care. So off we go.
She has had a cold for a few days...must have gotten in her eyes too...We got a nice lady doctor at the acute care (thank goodness it wasnt a man). Both eyes with conjunctivitis...AND an ear infection.
NOW the real panic sets in for me. Eye drops....are you kidding me? THREE times a day? There has to be a better way. My daughter doesnt like to get her face wet....let alone hurl a big drop of wet medicine that is probably going to sting into her already sore and puffy eye. Are you kidding me? I thought she screamed the night before. Trying to reason with her that she was going to feel better after we put the drops in was really getting us no where. We had to resort to physical restraints....Daddy had to sit on her. (thank goodness this time the screams were "DADDY youre hurting me...NO DADDY" But, at the time of this post have two of her three sets of drops in and her eyes are not angry red looking...but a little clearer and more pink than red.
So, Mommy gets a day off from work on Monday. (Many thanks to Busia and Dziadzia for watching Danielle during her cold last week.) Not quite sure how i will get the drops in by myself on Monday...but will figure it out I guess...Keep your windows open and you may hear the screaming.
Hope all is well (and not pink) where you are.

Holy case of pink eye! We get it regularly (momma, Z and E), but never that bad! I know it's not funny, but in a glad-the-same-types of-things-happen-to-others kind of way I'm smiling. Hope Danielle feels better soon!
I wonder if "pink" is still THE favorite color? Feel better kiddo!

"I mean I can't see. What don't you understand?"
Classic.

I had pink eye when Busia and I were in Aruba. But, maybe it was from the bloody marys I had.

Yeah, that's "BM eye" not pink eye. However, an easy mistake. Did you tell mom..."I mean I can't see, what don't you understand?"
Now that would have been classic. I would have paid to see that.
Cobbler Ct.
Just a little update...Mommy of course got the pink eye too....Not from Bloody Mary's either.
Danielle is feeling tons better. Thanks for all the well wishes.
Actually.... I think "BM eye" is something totally different.
